Mr Babur Mahmood is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon, with clinical practice exclusively in spinal surgery.

Mr Mahmood graduated from University of Southampton in 1995. He underwent Basic Surgical Training in Southampton and Colchester. He was an Anatomy Demonstrator at University of Cambridge. He completed his Higher Surgical Training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore Training Scheme. He achieved his subspecialty training in Spinal Surgery at Stanmore as well. This was further consolidated with spinal fellowships at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Oxford University Hospitals. Mr Mahmood was appointed as a Consultant Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in 2014.

He deals with all aspects of spinal surgery (including degenerative, deformity, tumour, trauma and infection) from cervical, thoracic to lumbosacral spine.

He works in close collaboration with other members of the spinal multidisciplinary team – including pain management and radiologist (as well as spinal surgeons), with a weekly meeting where all complex and unusual cases are discussed. He believes that key to successful treatment of any spinal condition is a thorough history and examination, supplemented with appropriate investigations resulting in a shared treatment plan with the patient. He works closely with local physiotherapist and osteopaths. He is a firm believer that Spinal surgical intervention is always the last resort.
